Mondana Nikoukari

Attorney Mondana Nikoukari provides divorce mediation and coaching services to people who are making the decision to divorce or who are transitioning through high conflict divorce. With nearly 20 years experience as a family law attorney, Mondana understands that whether you are a breadwinner, primary caretaker or parents who both work outside the home, each has unique worries about what divorce holds for their future and the importance of planning for it. 

Mondana is a graduate of the University of Connecticut School of Law. She began her career as a National Association for Public Interest Law Fellow. In this role she developed a project to assist low income victims of domestic violence find stability through child support orders in the Massachusetts Courts via divorce and paternity actions. As an associate attorney at Western Mass Legal Services she continued this role as staff attorney within the family law unit gaining unparalleled litigation and negotiation experience in highly contested custody matters.  She went on to form Nikoukari, Charron & Mahoney, PC a boutique firm that specialized in family law litigation in the western Massachusetts family courts. In this practice she also became a trained Guardian ad Litem certified by the State of Massachusetts, representing minors in the Juvenile Court and as Attorney-for-the-Child in divorce matters. She also became a trained divorce mediator through the Mediation and Training Collaborative in Greenfield, MA. 

It wasn’t until a move back to her native state of Connecticut litigating high-value/high conflict divorces in Stamford that she realized there must be a more fulfilling way to practice family law outside the adversarial process.  Mondana wanted to empower her clients to take the front seat in the divorce process not just be along for the ride. Through specialized divorce coach training with the first and most established divorce coach certification program, Divorce, Inc., she gained a deeper understanding of how goal driven decision-making can be the key to her clients’ experience in going through a divorce with a favorable outcome.

With the establishment of the Connecticut Divorce Coach, LLC,  Mondana left the practice of adversarial family law forever. As a Certified Divorce Coach,©  Mondana focuses on meeting her clients anywhere they are on their divorce journey. She believes that making the decision to divorce  must include setting short and long term goals before diving into the crux of the custody and financial matters. Education is at the crux of her coaching practice.  She informs her clients on whether divorce is a good option, both financially and legally. Along the way she helps her clients digest the laws and procedures of divorce so they are prepared with a dignified plan and a holistic road map to tackle the issues that may arise.

More recently, Mondana has added mediation to her practice as yet another way to empower her clients to take control of their divorce process.  She is a trained member of the Connecticut Council for Non-Adversarial Divorce and devotes the majority of her practice mediating divorce agreements, separation agreements and agreements in post-judgment modifications.  She also provides review counsel services, providing independent legal advice to individuals mediating their family law matters.

Mondana is licensed to practice law in both Connecticut and Massachusetts. She is a volunteer attorney in the Superior Court’s Family Volunteer Program. She is a member of the Fairfield County Bar Association and the Connecticut Bar. Mondana volunteers with the Stamford Public Education Fund’s Mentor Program, acts as the After School Program Chair at Stillmeadow Elementary School and is a class parent at St. Lukes School in New Canaan, CT. Mondana lives in Stamford with her husband, two sons and golden-spaniel. She enjoys skiing, hiking, mountain biking, travel,  food, wine and cooking in her free time.
